To Fenway’s trans and gender diverse community, and all others who may be affected:
We are here for you. Fenway recognizes the medical necessity of gender-affirming care and knows that gender-affirming hormone therapy is an essential service. We are continuing to provide consult visits as best we can via telehealth, refill and adjust hormone prescriptions, and provide any in-person services needed for gender-affirming hormone care (Testopel insertions, hormone injections, etc.). Fenway is also aware that this is an exceptionally difficult time for trans and non-binary individuals who, on the best of days, already face barriers to accessing care. We will continue to do our part to keep access open and our lines communication clear for you. If you have any issues accessing these services, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Trans Health Department via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additionally, due to the coronavirus pandemic, many hospitals around the country have cancelled surgeries, including gender-affirming procedures. This is devastating for so many people. If you have been affected by this, please know we are thinking of you. Fenway continues to offer counseling services via telehealth (phone and video), and we encourage you to reach out to your therapist or your team behavioral health specialist (BHS) for additional support. If you are unsure who your BHS provider is, please email or call your team nurse or medical provider for assistance.
Finally, Fenway’s Violence Recovery Program (VRP) continues to offer counseling and support for individuals who are affected by intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and anti-LGBTQ hate violence. You can contact a VRP provider at (617) 927-6250 from 9a-5p Mon-Friday, and you can leave a message after hours to be followed up the next day.
We miss seeing so many of you in the clinic and are eager to have you back for visits as usual. Until then, let us social distance with humanity, empathy, and kindness filling the spaces between us. If you need services for medical, behavioral health, or other resources, please reach out as below.
Take care of yourselves.
