Birth Control & Emergency Contraception

Due to COVID-19 concerns, our contraception counselors are not currently offering appointments. However, you can schedule a telehealth appointment to discuss your birth control options with your medical provider by calling 617.927.6000.

Fenway Health offers contraception counseling for patients who are considering birth control or exploring new methods of contraception. We can help answer your questions so you can get the contraception that is right for you.

During your appointment, you will meet with one of our contraception counselors to discuss your contraceptive needs. They will educate you on your birth control options and answer any questions you have. The goal is to provide you with the knowledge needed to make decision about which method is right for you.

Our contraception counselors are trained to discuss the following methods of birth control with you:

  • Abstinence
  • Birth Control Implant (Nexplanon)
  • Birth Control Patch
  • Birth Control Pills
  • Birth Control Shot (Depo-Provera)
  • Birth Control Sponge
  • Birth Control Ring (NuvaRing)
  • Diaphragm
  • Fertility Awareness Methods
  • Internal/External Condoms
  • IUD (Mirena, Kyleena, Paragard)
  • Emergency Contraception (Plan B, Ella)
  • Withdrawal

If you choose a method that requires a prescription, it can be written that day. If you choose a method that requires an insertion procedure, we will schedule you an additional appointment.

Contraception counseling is a free service for all patients. We offer free or reduced cost contraception for patients who qualify.
